Health & Safety Laboratory
Annual Report 2004 – 05

Our brief is to present the end of year numbers but also highlight the work they do in investigating accidents throughout the country

They make the UK a safer place for us to live and work. They blow things up, stretch things to breaking point and look at things under microscopes.

They investigate accidents and advise on how they can be avoided in future.

We are not just talking about people tripping over the kerb.

Examples have ranged from all the train crashes over the past few years (eg Ladbroke Grove and Hatfield), to the Avonmouth bridge platform collapse where 4 workmen fell to their deaths
