As well as presenting the accounts we needed to present HSL’s achievements and convey what they do. Their scientific expertise is diverse and so the use of case studies reflects this – from gas turbine safety to arsenic species in urine. HSL are targeted to increase their non UK government revenue by selling their skills elsewhere (to the private sector and abroad).

So the report & accounts has a role to play as a marketing document as well as communicating financial results.
